How to Get Pregnant Quick? Baby we are Born to Run!

how to get pregnant quickOften I’m asked how to get pregnant quick and easy. And although there may be many factors affecting your ability to conceive, there is one that can help manage the others. I’m talking about regular moderate exercise.

How to get pregnant quick? You need to exercise!

Moderate exercise puts your body in a relaxed meditative state allowing your hormones to balance out. Excessive exercise stresses the body which further contributes to hormonal irregularities.

There are three groups of people when it comes to exercise

  1. Group one –  dislikes exercise and has all sorts of excuses not to exercise. Majority of people in the western world fall into this category.
  2. Group two – takes exercise to an extreme, regularly training for marathons, triathlons, and gigathlons. This group makes up a small percentage of the population.
  3. Group three – has a gym membership which hardly gets used and from time to time engages in light Sunday stroll, bike ride or rollerblading. This is the second largest group in the western world.

Group one are most likely to experience fertility issues related to excess weight, insulin resistance and estrogen dominance.

Group two are candidates for abnormal sperm and anovulation due to low percentage of body fat and testicular overheating in men.

Group three get more exercise than group one but are still predisposed to the same health and fertility risks only to a lesser extent.

The benefits of exercise are many, and no pill can give you the same health benefits! Besides using it when you’re seeking how to get pregnant quickly, exercise also reduces the risk of;

  • Premature death
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Colon cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obesity
  • Osteoporosis
  • Muscle wasting
  • Infertility
  • Reduce the risk of premature death
  • Reduce the risk of developing and/or dying from heart disease
  • Reduce high blood pressure or the risk of developing high blood pressure
  • Reduce high cholesterol or the risk of developing high cholesterol
  • Reduce the risk of developing colon cancer and breast cancer
  • Reduce the risk of developing diabetes
  • Reduce or maintain body weight or body fat
  • Build and maintain healthy muscles, bones, and joints
  • Reduce depression and anxiety
  • Improve psychological well-being
  • Enhanced work, recreation, and sport performance

The key to exercise is moderation and easy access.

If being able to exercise requires expensive equipment or a long drive to the gym, you will be less inclined to do it.

So the simple solution to finding out how to get pregnant quickly is to make it easy and inexpensive for yourself. Running is a great option. All you need are good running shoes! And you are ready to exercise when you step out of your front door.

Running has many health benefits and recent studies and reports have disproven many of the alleged risks of running while trying to get pregnant. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is now encouraging women to exercise before, during and after pregnancy.

Humans were born to run

According to Harvard University scientist Daniel Lieberman what set humans apart from other primates was our endurance running ability. We may not be the fastest runners out there but we can out-walk any animal on this planet over the long haul!

Running and the metabolic benefits it brings are coded in our DNA. Humans have been running for millions of years and our bodies quickly respond to this type of exercise, which is useful in knowing how to get pregnant quickly.

However if you don’t run properly you could injure your joints and muscles. Good technique is very important. ChiRunning, developed by Danny Dreyer teaches you how to run using the mid-section of your foot rather then your toes or hills. This way of running spreads the impact on your joints evenly and reduces the likelihood of an injury. How to get pregnant quick? Start running!

The healthy way to run when you want to know how to get pregnant quickly:

  1. Start slow. If you are new to running start by walking fast and then add a few running intervals. Aim to breathe through your nose. If you have the urge to berate through your mouth, slow down to a pace where you can maintain breathing through your nose.
  2. Gradually increase your speed over six weeks. Always use your breath as a gauge for how fast you should be running.
  3. Get good quality running shoes. if you have flat feet or any back, hip or knee issues you may want to see a good podiatrist to find out if orthotics can help. I started using orthotics a few years ago and it made a big difference!
  4. Plan your running route ahead and stick to it. Plan to run for 60 minutes a day, 40 is the minimum.
  5. Stay well hydrated and if you don’t need to loose any weight make sure to make up for the lost calories. 100 calories per mile run should be added to your diet so you don’t loose weight. If your calorie deficit reaches 30% you are at risk of anovulation. If you need to loose weight aim for 10% calorie deficit.
  6. You can continue running when you conceive. However it may be better if you continue on a treadmill as they absorb shock and there is  a smaller risk of falling – one of the major concerns of exercising while pregnant. You should swap running for walking or exercise bike once running becomes too uncomfortable in the second  or third trimester of your pregnancy.
  7. As soon as your doctors gives you the all-clear for exercise after childbirth, start exercising again. You can get special running prams and run with your baby.
